Hi there, I’m Jen. I am
a qualified, UK trained counsellor. I have been in
private practice since June 2022. I offer a free initial
consultation to see if we are a good ‘fit’ and can
provide time limited counselling (e.g. 12 weeks) or
open-ended work (with regular reviews). I am currently
accepting clients aged 16+.
My commitment to you is
to provide a warm, empathic, non-judgemental and safe
space in which to explore your difficulties. I believe
that self-awareness is key to effecting change and I
will facilitate this process; I will walk beside you,
metaphorically speaking.
Given that every person
is different, I will tailor our work in a way that will
best support you as the work proceeds. I believe it is
helpful to have an overall goal of what you want to
achieve from the therapeutic work and that from within
this framework you are safe to explore anything that
comes up for you in the process. This may or may not be
clear from the outset but will be revisited from time to
time and may evolve or change.
It’s important that you
go at your own pace and feel comfortable sharing your
thoughts and feelings when you are ready.
The main theoretical
approach that I work with is Transactional Analysis and
I draw upon other theories such as Gestalt and
Person-Centred Therapy. I sometimes use Cognitive
Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness exercises and
Emotional Freedom Technique to compliment the talk
therapy.
We also have the option
of using more creative ways of working together such as
through art, music, writing and I’m open to your
suggestions too if there is something you feel would
assist your process.
