About Me
Hello! I’m Karen Kimmons and I’m an American Licensed
Professional Counselor Associate with a Master’s degree
in Clinical Mental Health Counseling as well as over 18
years living abroad in Africa and Europe. My office is
in a beautiful renovated Chateau in Nantes where you can
enjoy quiet and peace. I also provide telehealth
sessions via a secure HIPAA and GDPR-compliant video
conferencing platform. I founded the private practice,
Restoration Counseling in Nantes, France to provide
support for expats, international students, refugees as
well as offering telehealth support and week-long
residential intensives for expat non-profit workers
living in Europe and North Africa.
Therapeutic Approach
I offer a holistic, evidence-based and solution-focused
approach to counseling which is trauma-informed.
Holistic, because I believe that mental health should
not be addressed in a vacuum. Physical health,
relationships, trauma history, development, and many
other factors contribute to mental wellness.
Evidence-Based, because I see it as part of my ethical
duty to stay up-to-date on the most recent research in
psychology and mental health to provide professional
care backed by scientific research. Solution-Focused,
because I believe that true change is possible, and to
get there, we need to have a plan.
Therapy is currently provided in English, though I do
accept some clients with French as a second language. If
