I offer therapy with Skype or Zoom

Hello, my name is Sam and I am an English Counselling Psychologist and psychotherapist. You do not have to be in crisis or on the verge of one, before choosing to seek support. It may be that you would like help dealing with a life change, are in need of support with a relationship difficulty, or have a specific event or problem you are facing that you would like to talk through with someone who is removed from your personal circumstances.

There are periods when life can be a struggle and most people at some point will need some support to work things out and find a way forward when they are feeling stuck. Talking to a professional who will listen deeply to your experiences can help you to untangle difficult thoughts and emotions. As a psychologist and psychotherapist, I seek to offer a safe, supportive, confidential space that is separate from your everyday life where you can talk about what is on your mind.

About Psychotherapy
There are different approaches to psychotherapy, so it is important for you to find a therapist whose philosophy and way of working feels appropriate. It is also important to find someone you feel comfortable working with, so I would encourage you to meet with several therapists if you are in a position to do so.

As an integrative practitioner, I do not adhere rigidly to a specific model or way of working, but rather I adapt and draw on a variety of different approaches to tailor how we work in a way that will be most beneficial to you as an individual. One of the most important aspects of my role is to create an environment where you feel safe enough to explore yourself and your experiences of the world and of others, without fear of judgement or conditions. I will support this by reflecting my understanding of what you think and feel and how you have made sense of the world and your life. This kind of exploration can help you decide what you feel is helpful and productive for you and what could be different if you were to initiate change.

I do not think it is my role to tell you what to do. Rather, I believe my job is to help you move to a position where you feel able to take steps to progress towards your goals and to attain fulfilment in your life, your relationships and your work.

Qualifications & Experience
I have a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from the well-renowned Metanoia Institute in London and am accredited with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

I abide by the UKCP and BPS strict ethical frameworks for good practice in ‘Counselling and Psychotherapy’. Within these, I am required to maintain client confidentiality and attend regular supervision of my clinical practice so that I conscientiously provide my clients with an ethically sound and professional service.
